Hi,

You'll have to check this out in the Terms of Use for
Sourceforge.net, but I _believe_ you're not allowed to
do any actual development on the sourceforge shell
server, and you're definately *NOT* allowed to use
sourceforge to run your MUD on an ongoing basis. So
you still need to actually develop your software on
your own machine at home.

This is not to say that Sourceforge isn't worth while.
What Sourceforge does provide is version control, bug
tracking, forums, mailing lists and a documentation
manager for tracking documentation for your project.
On top of that they provide great webhosting -- a 50MB
soft limit, or more if your project needs more. This
isn't the regular (bad) free webhosting you can get
anywhere -- you can also use php & MySQL, if you feel
inclined.

They also provide visibility for your project,
especially if your project stays active, and you can
post requests for developers -- although how many
people actually respond is not entirely clear...

The only down side is you have to release your code
under some kind of OpenSource license or release it as
public domain. You're also required to make your
project available for free (free beer and free
speech).
