I think of the list as being more like a bunch of people who go
out fishing, and everyone is supposed to bring something. One
person (Dworkin) owns the boat. Other people (Par, Erwin) have
been around the lake for a long time, and know all the good
places to catch fish. No one else can do what these people do.
But everyone else can contribute something. Some people bring
the beer. Other people bring sandwiches or sunscreen. If you
can't bring anything else, you can always dig up a few worms
for bait. But if a person never brings anything, or brings
something much cheaper than what they obviously could afford
to bring, then that person is defeating the whole idea of the
fishing trip in the first place.
