[DGD] my dgd is VERY crashable

OK, it turns out the last 2 thirds of my email are now irrelevent because 
the problem was caused by an infinite recursion bug which I've now corrected 
(although shutting down the entire driver seems a bit extreme...).

So its just the compile error problem now. Anyone know what it might be?
