But have you thought about keeping backups yet? Also, is your hard
drive really toast or does it just not boot? In the latter case, it
may be worthwhile booting from a live CD and see if you can rescue
some of your work. As an alternative to backups, maybe a friend could
host a Subversion repository for you. Or, if you are doing open-source
mudlib development, maybe SourceForge could host your project. My
apologies if these advices are obvious, no offense intented.
