Hmm. I distinctly remember complaining that the pictures were the same.
I soon got over it, but would have likely the visual clues, so that I
could minimize the amount of attention I had to give it. I recall being
amusing by things like the edible worm rounds, however.
Appearance does matter, in general. I enjoyed Bard's Tale I, and only
got annoyed at the very last level, which required characters
significantly more advanced than we had, so we never finished. That
was a bummer. I looked forward to Bard's Tale II, and bought it. The
backgrounds (the green bone things) were totally ludicrous however,
and turned me off (not for being ugly, but for just not making any
sense at all, and ruining any sense of being there) so much that I
quickly gave up on it.
Just shows again, I think, that different things are important to
different people.
