  Abermud's done this for yonks. Basically it relies on the fact that
you can set things up so file handles (aka Posix sockets) aren't closed
when a program terminates. Can't remember exactly how you set that,
but a quick peek at the reboot command on any stock idirt or pdirt
abermud'll show you how, if you can stand looking at Aber code ;)
