I'm going to be a bit of a smartass here, although serious about it,
and say that one of the biggest factors is that of what your experience
was when you played the game. Human nature seems to want to glorify
our first good experience with something. For me, none of the above
hold much thrill, although I've played all of them, and some earlier
ones on CP/M boxes. I *do* have fond memories of Wizardry on a friend's
Apple-II, and of the original Adventure, however. I think that is more
because they were my first such experiences, and because they were early
in their genre, however, than that they are in any way better than newer
ones. Since they were early, they had very little stuff that was just
variants of what had gone before - there was so little that had gone before!
