Yup, agreed. Although there are some neat things coming out quite
soon, or are already out. The Motorola Acompli phones are pretty
good, combining GPRS (2.5G mobile technology) PDA type functions and
J2ME, giving you the ability to download games onto your
phone. Pretty simple games of course, but fun none-the-less, and
from the biz side the revenue model is simple and profitable (ring
tones here in Europe are huge business, people love to have cool
stuff on their phones).

Problem is the Acompli phones are damn expensive =)

J2ME is pretty interesting stuff and another area where MUD devs
might want to look at adding some functionality. Pity mass market
penetration is, realistically, 2 years away.

Other problem is if you want US/Europe coverage for your service
you'd have to work out so many deals in so many countries, and
develop for several conflicting networks (all the varieties of 2.5
and 3G).

Would be cool though! :D
