Some of the early lessons of mailing lists would seem to apply:

  5% of the population won't like any configuration choice and will
  complain about it if asked

  5% will like any choice and will say so if asked

  90% will go with whatever the default is

  The population who complain or raise a rukus is generally very
  small.  < 1% is common.  However that tiny percentage will make
  more heat and noise than the other 99% combined.
