Another option here would be WildTangent's webdriver.  It is a COM
based engine, and has successfully been driven from Javascript, Java,
VB, C# and C++.

The licensing seems like it would work for a free mud.  From what I
remember, there were only payment issues if you were getting 1 million
hits per month.

For my disclaimer, I am currently a WildTangent employee (core
rendering engine).
