We ran into a similar situation with the consider command, which I
now no longer ever see players using. The message it gives off is
something like "Blah eyes you morbidly," and the only time I ever
see it used is when an staff member is trying to be funny. Much of
the reaction was because it's a command that traditionally signifies
you're looking at the entitiy to see whether or not you can kill it
- but as time progressed, it became anathema because it just didn't
fit into roleplay well.

On a similar note, we did added the ability to attach an emote to
the look command, so you can do something like:

look man licking her lips lasciviously

which produces something like

Blah looks at you, licking her lips lasciviously

This was a big hit, and stopped the long threads on our discussion
board about how the look command shouldn't echo anything to the
target. I suspect on roleplay-intensive games like ours, that
anytime you allow people to customize basic commands like that, it's
going to meet with enthusiasm, and moves the command away from being
something mechanical.
