[MUD-Dev] Boys and Girls - was (Re: MUD-Dev digest, Vol 1 #1 63 - 25 msgs)

This is a side note to the discussion, but I wanted to bring it up
in case it may have relevance.

When I was at a conference at USC a while back, research was shown
(and demonstrated) wherein a video game about manipulating
oddly-shaped 3d objects in 3d space to turn them to the right
orientation (shown by example) was presented to both men and
women. As research predicted, men did better at the game than women.

But the game taught the women to be as good at spatial visualization
as the men were by nature.

And the effects were permanent.

I thought this was both fascinating and a little scary. It sure made
me look at the issue of what we portray in games again.
