[MUD-Dev] The Price of Being Male

I believe that the debate comes down to this.

A man walks into the store, and they want to buy item X, which is
worn by them, or will otherwise be seen as representing them. X
could be a hat, a car, whatever.

Item X comes in two versions, one, say, black, and the other pink
with frills. Otherwise, they are functionally equivalent.

The people on the list saying that this article demonstrates sexual
discrimination would say that because most men prefer the non-pink
and frilly version, which is associated with femininity, they are
discriminating against women.

The people on the list saying that that's hogwash, would have you
believe that, admittedly, the most men don't want to be seen wearing
something associated with being female, but that doesn't mean they
discriminate against women.

The problem could be, of course, that the real 'discrimination'
issue is not against men or women, but against men who appear
feminine.

Or it could be that men in general, just want to keep their own
'identity' and that being seen *AS MALE*, however it's defined, is
something men prefer.

Is this as big an issue as the real problems of sexual
discrimination? Is it any more of an issue than say, your average
woman preferring pink over khaki? Do women who prefer to wear pink
discriminate against men? Your average women will "discriminate"
over her own appearance and how she identifies herself, far more
than your average male. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that if EQ
had a 95/5 split in favor of women, the difference in price of
female vs male characters would be greater than 10%.
