They're all a pain in the ass, owing to the lack of documentation
and structure. I'm personally a big fan of TinyMUSH, but I've also
been impressed with SMAUG, and some people simply won't touch
anything but LP or Cold. I'd recommend that you take a look at LP,
which comes with a pretty solid internal framework (unlike TinyMUSH
or Cold) and is pretty flexible (unlike SMAUG). If you're really
into the OO thing, Cold may be a better choice.
Each codebase is reasonably comparable to the next. Which one you
select is really not as important as how comfortable you are with
it.
