One of the recent Myst games used this. Whatever your mouse was
pointing at would be in focus. It actually worked pretty well due to
the nature of the game. On the other hand, the effect worked so well it
was hardly noticeable after the initial "that's neat", so it might have
been a waste of developer effort.
