"The Law of Golf and Hockey Sticks"

  "Perhaps you've seen the commercial where the golfer is about to
  sink a long putt, when out of nowhere comes a man with a goalie
  stick who swats the ball away just before it reaches the cup. Some
  people actually ENJOY fending off the stick-wielding maniac while
  trying to get the ball in the cup."

This is a response to developers such as Sony, who develop "play
nice rules" and "indirect player versus player" in an effort to
placate players who complain when their game experience is affected
by other players.

Actually, this is more a piece of narration than a "law." I suppose
we could add, "Developers should keep this in mind, lest they
encounter stick-wielding MMORPG fans on the greens during their next
golf outing."
