Well, this is only logical in my opinion. It's the nature of the
game, to be successful you must correctly discover a safe move that
also improves your position.

Given any chess position, my moves are known... my opponent's moves
are not. Therefore I must look at more of their options in order to
make an accurate prediction.

If discovering a fatal flaw in your chosen move is falsification,
then so be it.

Most of the games I've lost have been because I didn't see the flaw
in the move.
